According to Mundo Deportivo the Catalans with Sergiño Dest and Héctor Bellerín have two candidates in the picture to take over his place on the right back. The wing defender of Ajax would be at the top of Barcelona’s wish list, although the asking price of Ajax and the upcoming administrative elections in Catalonia will require a complicated construction.

Barcelona’s possible hunt for Dest is closely linked to Semedo’s departure. The 26-year-old wing defender has recently been linked more than once to a departure from Spain. Barcelona would have hired Jorge Mendes to sell Semedo to a Premier League club. He was taken over by Barcelona in 2017 for 36 million euros from Benfica and has a contract until mid-2022 at the Camp Nou, where he is emphatically on the nomination to leave. Barcelona has to sell players anyway, before incoming transfers can be completed.

Mundo Deportivo writes that when Semedo leaves for the Premier League, there should in any case be a higher amount for the 14-time Portuguese international than the transfer fee required by Ajax for Dest. It is claimed that the asking price of the Amsterdammers is relatively low at EUR 20 to 25 million, but Barcelona wants to bet on a rental deal with an option to buy, regardless of the possible sale of Semedo. This also has to do with the presidential elections, which will take place in March 2021.
