Ajax seems to be losing the battle for Nico González. The Amsterdam club had great interest in the midfielder of Barcelona B, but seems to have to drop out for González. The nineteen-year-old talent is about to sign a new three-year contract in Catalonia, so assures El Mundo Deportivo Wednesday. Manchester City also had high hopes of acquiring the intended successor of Sergio Busquets.

By offering a place in the first selection, Ajax thought it had a serious chance to bring González to Amsterdam. However, the controlling midfielder has decided to commit to Barça longer. He is expected to play for the promises team of the Spanish superpower next season, after which he will have to make the final switch to the A-selection in the 2022/23 season. González is then twenty years old.
