FC Barcelona failed to deal with number 19 in the rankings Granada CF on Sunday evening. Coach Xavi's team did not get further than a 3-3 draw at home. Top talent Lamine Yamal scored two goals. Robert Lewandowski scored the other goal. Barça is one point behind Girona, which lost 4-0 to Real Madrid on Saturday.
Barça took the lead after fifteen minutes of play. João Cancelo sent a cross to the far post, where seventeen-year-old Yamal was able to easily score.
After forty minutes of play, the home team seemed to double the margin. A perfectly played attack ended up with Lewandowski in the final phase. The Spanish talent only had to slide in, as the goalkeeper had already been outwitted. However, his attempt was cleared off the line by Faitout Maouassa.
The visitors came alongside again just before half time. Ricard Sánchez hit a low cross into the penalty area hard behind Marc-André ter Stegen, who was returning from injury.
Granada even took the lead in the second act. Facundo Pellistri, who already provided an assist at 1-1, was this time in the right place for a cross into the box. The Manchester United loanee gave his team the lead from close range: 2-1.
Granada could not enjoy the lead for long. Ilkay Gündogan received a deep ball from Cancelo and then set it aside for Lewandowski, who this time managed to find the net: 2-2.
A minute later the visitors took the lead again. A cross from Maouassa was cleverly headed in by Ignasi Miquel. Ter Stegen got his hand against it, but saw the ball end up in the goal via the post.
Ten minutes before the end, Fermín López equalized the score. He tapped in a ball headed in front of the goal at the far post, but did so from an offside position so the goal was disallowed.
A few moments later it came Blaugrana still on the same level. Yamal took the ball outside the penalty area and then shot neatly into the bottom corner: 3-3.
