Besiktas handed over a win against Adana Demirspor on Monday evening. The Turkish top club took the lead against the surprising number four in the competition, but saw Adana come back in injury time in the second half: 1-1. Mario Balotelli, Adana’s eye-catcher, stood out, among other things, by scoring a beautiful goal and celebrating it in a remarkable way. However, that goal did not last because of a foul by a teammate in the run-up.

Balotelli caused problems in the rear at Besiktas throughout the game. That started in the thirteenth minute, when the Italian striker shot just wide. The game went up and down and the visitors also became dangerous a few times. Ridvan Yilmaz still aimed wide, but Besiktas still took the lead after half an hour via Alex Teixeira, who was able to head in a measured cross from Kerem Kalafat: 0-1.

After another failed shot by Balotelli, the Adana striker seemed to score beautifully just before half-time. Balotelli dribbled to the edge of the penalty area and surprised Besiktas’ defense with a covered diagonal shot. The attacker celebrated by sitting with his legs crossed on the ground, but then saw his beautiful goal disallowed because teammate Matias Vargas had made a pushing error in the run-up.

Adana kept chasing a result in the second half and found it in stoppage time. Tayyib Sanuc headed back from a corner from the far post, after which Samet Akaydin took advantage with the head right in front of the goal: 1-1. It could have been even better for Adana, but the same Akaydin saw a striking volley disallowed due to Balotelli’s offside.
