Johan Bakayoko has advocated for Ibrahim Sangaré on the PSV club channel. The Ivorian left Eindhoven last summer, but can still count on nice words from his Belgian ex-teammate. Bakayoko even rates Sangaré higher than Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku.

In a Q&A with the PSV club channel, Bakayoko is asked who is the best player he has ever played with. “I have two in mind, but then I will go for Sangaré,” said Bakayoko. “He had such an impact on our game. And he’s a good friend of mine.”

Bakayoko, who has to deal with big names at both PSV and the Belgian team, acknowledges that it was difficult to choose between Sangaré, De Bruyne and Lukaku. “There are so many good players, but because of the bond I have with Sangaré, I prefer him.”

Of the players in the current selection, Bakayoko laughs the loudest about Isaac Babadi. “That’s a very easy question,” said the winger. “He is by far the funniest. It’s unbelievable how much inspiration he is. We laugh a lot together.”

Bakayoko also throws a teammate under the bus. When asked who is the worst dressed, Ricardo Pepi has to bear the brunt. “There are a few, but then I go for Pepi. I have once spoken to him about that. He has nice clothes, but he always wears a tracksuit.”

Bakayoko is currently preparing with the Belgian team for the European Championship qualifying match against Azerbaijan (Sunday). On Wednesday evening (8:45 p.m.) the Belgians will play a friendly international match against Dusan Tadic’s Serbia.
