Celtic will be the opponent of AZ in the play-offs for a place in the group stage of the Europa League. After the Scots were already 2-4 too strong to visit FK Jablonec in the first leg, the 3-0 victory at home was more than enough to ensure a place in the last preliminary round. Next Wednesday, AZ will first visit Glasgow, after which the team of trainer Pascal Jansen hopes to get the job done on Thursday 26 August in Alkmaar.

Not entirely unexpectedly, the team of manager Ange Postecoglou was the dominant party. Although Jablonec also contributed a few times, David Turnbull finally put an end to all Czech hopes for the next preliminary round in the 26th minute. The midfielder controlled a tight pass from Greg Taylor, after which he made room with a hood movement before the shot hit a convincing goal: 1-0. The second goal also came in the name of Turnbull.

Ten minutes after the break, the attacking midfielder got the ball in front of his feet in the sixteen-meter area. He did not hesitate and doubled the lead with a placed shot. The final chord was played by James Forrest, who scored the 2-0 on the advice of Odsonne Édouard. In the final phase, the visitors had an opportunity to score a goal of honour, but Tomás Cvancara was not focused.
