AFAS Software will stop as main sponsor of AZ after twelve seasons, the Alkmaarders reported on Tuesday via the official channels. The club and namesake of the AZ stadium and training complex both take a different path. For AZ, this means that it is looking for new partners for the shirt, stadium and youth academy.

AZ emphasizes on the club website that AFAS played ‘an important role in the revival of the club’ and that the sponsor was an ‘inspiring and ambitious partner’. “AZ looks back on the collaboration with AFAS with respect, appreciation and gratitude. The company from Leusden gave the Alkmaarders their confidence when the club was in a difficult phase,” AZ writes. “After twelve seasons, both parties choose to give each other room to grow further. For AZ, this means that it is looking for new partners for the shirt, stadium and youth academy.”

AZ reports that it will enter into discussions with interested parties in the coming period. “A new main sponsor will be sought who can support AZ in the further road to the top,” it sounds like. “In the past twelve years, we have experienced a lot with AFAS and have made enormous strides, including in the field of our youth academy”, responds general director Robert Eenhoorn. “We came from far, but they have supported the club through thick and thin. The fact that AFAS now gives us the space to take the next step is also significant in that regard. We look back on a great partnership with a very inspiring party, whom we wish all the best in the future.”

“With today’s knowledge, we can rightly speak of sponsorship as a bull’s-eye”, says Bas van der Veldt, general manager of AFAS. “Beyond the national fame it has brought to our family business, it is a wonderful example that financial stability leads to success.” The agreement between AZ and AFAS will expire in mid-2022.
