AZ players do not have to hope for a transfer to Ajax, Feyenoord or PSV. The Alkmaarders already announced through technical director Max Huiberts that they will not be sold to the competition and those words will be repeated on Thursday by head coach Pascal Jansen. AZ members who want to take a step up should aim their arrows abroad.

So Ajax, Feyenoord and PSV do not have to knock on the door in Alkmaar for the best players. “It seems clear to me that you are not going to sell your best players to the competition,” said Jansen in conversation with ESPN. “I completely agree with the sounds I have heard here over the past year, that it is clear what we think of that as a club.”

Jansen confirms that AZ players can only go abroad if they want to take a step higher. “If you put it that way, yes. You only think about it when things are concrete, but we want to play in those top four and then it would be weird if you sell your best players to other competitors. I can I can imagine the position of AZ properly.”

Prior to the European Championship, AZ back Owen Wijndal was frequently linked to Ajax. Director of football affairs Marc Overmars made no secret of the fact that the the Dutch international would be a suitable successor for Nicolás Tagliafico, who is nominated to leave. Calvin Stengs and Myron Boadu were also linked to Ajax in the recent past, although there seems to be no concrete interest at the moment.
