Latest update:

Ziggo Sport has not endeared itself to AZ fans. On Thursday, the sports channel published a video to draw attention to European football. However, the club from Alkmaar was ignored.

All Dutch clubs that will be active in Europe next year are featured in the video. PSV, Feyenoord, FC Twente and Ajax. However, AZ is nowhere to be seen.

This is remarkable, as the Alkmaarders, as number four in the Eredivisie, have secured participation in the group stage of the Europa League. Ajax finished fifth last season.

AZ fans react furiously to the teaser. “But Ziggo, just a quick question? Does AZ also play European football or do you not broadcast it?” asks Dylan Tamerius. An AZ fan account also responded. “Did you miss the fact that AZ finished fourth and plays European football every year?”

“It's nice that AZ has been left out completely. Do they not exist? Or is your marketing team just as bad as the many disruptions in De Rijp lately?”, responds another.

Someone else: “Oh, seventeen participations in the last twenty years and we have already been ignored seventeen times. It is really a shame. AZ is in 40th place in Europe, we are proud of Dutch football, except for that in Alkmaar. @ ZiggoSport, get your shit together.”

Ziggo Sport has exclusive broadcasting rights for all European club competitions from the 2024/25 season. This means that the Champions League, Europa League and Conference League can be seen with them.

Ziggo customers watch the matches of the Dutch clubs and the three finals on Ziggo Sport (channel 14). If two Dutch clubs play at the same time, a match will also be broadcast on channel 13.
