Oh no! Arsenal’s players watched in disbelief and burst out laughing after their captain, Piere-Emerick Aubameyang (left with his hands above his head), dropped the FA Cup on Saturday night after the Gunners beat Chelsea in the final.

Aubameyang was the chief architect of Arsenal’s victory after scoring two goals to topple Chelsea, who finished with just 10 players.

It was the 14th time Arsenal could win the FA Cup.

Christian Pulisic put Chelsea ahead in the 5th minute when he scored a goal in the empty stadium.

Aubameyang, Arsenal’s captain, scored a penalty in the 28th minute and sealed Chelsea’s fate with a second goal in the 67th minute.

Aubameyang, who has less than a year left before his contract with Arsenal expires, has been in the news regularly for the last few months. On top of that, he dropped the FA Cup on Saturday night before picking it up embarrassed and lifting it above his teammates above his head.

“He needs more experience with trophies and he can learn it from us,” Arteta joked when asked about Aubameyang’s blunders.

“He knows what I think of him. I want to build the group around him. I think he would like to stay on and all that needs to be done is to tie it.

“I believe moments like these will make him realize that we are on the right track and that he plays a big role in it. He is very popular with everyone and hopefully he can stay. ”

It was also Arteta, who only joined Arsenal in December,’s first taste of success with the Gunners after just eight months.

He also had to face the Covid-19 pandemic earlier this year after being tested positive and there was constant talk that he would cede some of his top players to other clubs.

He also held the FA Cup as a player at Arsenal, and was one of Manchester City’s assistant coaches when the club won the oldest football series.

“I believe so,” Arteta replied when asked if this was the best moment of his career.

“I am very proud of what I have achieved. The last six months have been very punishing as there have been so many things that have happened.

“I came here with only one goal in mind and that was to show the players and officials that we can do it. We changed our energy and attitude and seeing the players in the locker room and how they enjoyed their careers makes me even more proud. ”

Chelsea coach Frank Lampard was also full of praise for Aubameyang.

“He scored two goals, one a penalty he deserved. “We brought it home to the players that Arsenal like to play behind you … they also play football,” said Lampard.

“Aubameyang is a player of top quality and his second goal was the example of a player with speed and quality at this level.”

Lampard was upset about the dismissal of Mateo Kovacic, who received a second yellow card in the second half.

“It was a penalty kick, without a doubt, but sent off? It was not necessary.”

Lampard is nonetheless pleased with what he has achieved in his first year in Chelsea’s coaching chair.

“I can not criticize the players. We did not play well enough and we realized it in our locker room.

We must not get stuck with today.

“We have to look at the season as a whole, about what we have achieved and where we ended up in the English Premier League.

“It was a good season and it could have been the icing on the cake,” said Lampard.
