Only a medical examination separates Sam Lammers from a temporary transfer to Genoa. Italian media, among others Sky Italy, report on Thursday evening that the club from Bergamo and Genoa have ‘finally’ found an agreement on a rental, without an option to buy. Lammers, who was also associated with a lease to Feyenoord, will undergo a medical examination in Genoa on Friday and then sign the lease.

Lammers, 24, had been nominated for several weeks to leave Atalanta on a rental basis, if a suitable club from the Serie A would come forward. The attacker has had a difficult first year in Serie A. The attacker, who came over from PSV for at least nine million euros, played fifteen matches in Serie A, but only appeared at the starting signal once. He scored against Cagliari and Napoli.

Genoa accepted a €17.5 million offer from AS Roma for Eldor Shomurodov early this month and also waved goodbye to another attacker, Gianluca Scamacca, who had been hired from Sassuolo last season. The club from the port city mainly brought in transfer-free players and spent 1.8 million euros for attacker Caleb Ekuban from Trabzonspor.

Lammers is expected to make his debut for Genoa next Saturday on the first match day of the new Serie A season. Then an away game against reigning national champions Internazionale is on the program.
