AS Roma booked a simple victory on Monday evening. At home, the team of coach José Mourinho was 2-0 too strong for Spezia. Thanks to the three-pointer aim i Giallorossi, sixth, number seven Juventus passed in Serie A. For number seventeen Spezia it was the fifth time in a row that there was no win.

In the lost top match against Internazionale (0-3) Rick Karsdorp was not in the match selection due to a suspension, but now got a base place from Mourinho. At Spezia, goalkeeper Jeroen Zoet once again had to settle for a place on the bench. Roma took the lead early in the game. Jordan Veretout put the ball to the head of Tammy Abraham from a corner from the right, who in turn headed the ball to Chris Smalling. The center defender stood on the five-meter line to nod in: 1-0. Matías Viña had a good chance to double the lead halfway through the first act, but he ran into goalkeeper Ivan Provedel.

Spezia was actually rarely in the scene, and the wait was for another Roman goal. It came in the 56th minute. Once again Veretout provided an excellent corner, this time serving Roger Ibañez. The right centre-back towered over the hostile defense and headed in flawlessly. After more than an hour of play, Barcelona mercenary Rey Manaj seemed to make the connection goal. The attacker outwitted goalkeeper Rui Patrício in a cool way, but he did so from an offside position: goal disallowed. In the remainder of the second half, a victory for Roma was no longer in danger.
