Axel Tuanzebe caused a sensation on Tuesday during the game between Manchester United and Leicester City (1-2). The defender of the Red Devils appeared to be wearing a watch, but in reality it was a WHOOP Fitness Tracker, which is also used by NFL players and golfers. There were massive jokes about the accessory on social media and also in the studio of Ziggo Sport sounded surprise.

“You shouldn’t think about smashing someone’s head with such a watch,” said analyst Dirk Kuyt during the broadcast. Many users thought it was an Apple Watch, but that turned out not to be the case. The WHOOP Fitness Tracker is used to measure the fitness of an athlete. For example, it can measure exactly when someone goes to sleep and also what sleep cycles the person is going through, assessing the quality of sleep. Furthermore, information about the heart rate can be read out and how many calories someone burns during exercise, among other things.
