Art Langeler will be the new trainer of PEC Zwolle from next season. The current number thirteen of the Eredivisie presented the successor to interim trainer Bert Konterman on Thursday afternoon. Langeler, who signs a two-year contract, comes over from the KNVB, where he still works as director of football development. Langeler was already trainer of PEC Zwolle between 2010 and 2013.

Langeler’s appointment did not come out of the blue. After the resignation of John Stegeman in February, he was already put forward by regional media as a top candidate. To complete the season, PEC Zwolle worked on the arrival of Alfons Groenendijk, who eventually declined the temporary position. With Konterman, the club management found a trainer who wanted to finish the season, and then make place again in the summer.

“It feels very good to return to PEC Zwolle as head coach eight years later. A lot has changed for the better since I left ”, Langeler responds in a press release. He hopes to welcome the supporters to the MAC3PARK stadium next season. “Playing football without an audience has an impact on everyone; players, supporters, sponsors, the office organization, we all yearn for the moment when we can get together again in the MAC3PARK stadium. I am also looking forward to it enormously and above all I am very excited to start again at this beautiful club next summer. ”

“With Art we know what we are getting, namely an experienced and tactically skilled trainer”, says technical manager Mike Willems. “In recent years he has developed further at PSV and later the KNVB as a trainer, but also as a person. In his first period in Zwolle, he built the foundation of a team that we enjoyed for years. He has worked with a few guys from the current selection before, he is new to the other players and that puts everyone on edge. I am therefore looking forward to the collaboration with Art and we are going for a great period together with great success. ”
