A big downer for Feyenoord: the temporary arrival of Amad Diallo is cancelled. The 19-year-old Manchester United attacker was injured during training and will probably be sidelined for a month. Feyenoord and Manchester United had an agreement on a lease for the rest of the season. Feyenoord now has more than two days to find an alternative, as the transfer market closes its doors on Tuesday.

“He has been injured, it is cancelled,” technical director Frank Arnesen told the on Sunday General Newspaper. “Too bad, everything was settled. I have talked a lot with the people at Manchester United, but it is more sensible to have him recover at that club. It may take a while before he is back.”

Diallo also enjoyed interest from the Premier League and Bundesliga, but the young winger’s choice fell on Feyenoord. Diallo made the switch from Atalanta to Manchester United in January this year for a fee of approximately 21.3 million euros. However, the first period at Old Trafford was not an unqualified success, as he only played 363 minutes in total. In the Premier League, the right winger annex left winger played three games in which he did not score but did provide an assist. In the Europa League, Diallo made playing minutes in four matches and scored once.

Under manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the chance of many playing minutes this season again seemed small, so the club decided to rent him to Feyenoord for the rest of the season. Certainly with the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho, the flanks are sufficiently occupied at the Red Devils. Diallo has a permanent contract with Manchester United until mid-2025.

Arne Slot has been looking for reinforcements for the vanguard for some time and with Diallo the Feyenoord coach seemed to have received his desired reinforcement. Earlier in this transfer window, Feyenoord’s selection was strengthened with Marcus Holmgren Pedersen, Gernot Trauner, Fredrik Aursnes, Ofir Marciano, Guus Til and Alireza Jahanbakhsh.
