FC Twente is busy getting the selection in order for next season. The Telegraph confirmed on Thursday morning that the Tukkers want to fill the vacancy of Gijs Smal, who is leaving for Feyenoord, with Bas Kuipers. Football International reported on Monday that the captain of Go Ahead Eagles is a serious candidate for Twente.

Kuipers fits within the profile of an offensively strong left back that the Enschede team is looking for, according to the report The Telegraph. The expectation is that after the play-offs for European football, nails will be hammered home.

Go Ahead Eagles kicks off the diptych against NEC on Thursday evening. Know Kowet to deal with the Nijmegen team, a double meeting with FC Utrecht or Sparta Rotterdam awaits in the final.

Kuipers has had a very strong season in Deventer. The left back only missed one Eredivisie match and scored 5 goals and 4 assists in 33 games. In addition, Go Ahead had a successful year defensively, to which Kuipers made a significant contribution.

The 29-year-old wing defender has a contract in De Adelaarshorst until mid-2025, so Twente will have to put a transfer fee on the table for him. According to Transfer market Kuipers represents a value of 850,000 euros.

Due to Smal's upcoming departure to Feyenoord, Kuipers will have to compete with Anass Salah-Eddine (22) and Mats Rots (18) at Twente.

Sayf Ltaief was presented by the Tukkers as the first summer signing earlier this month. The 24-year-old winger comes over from FC Basel. Ltaief signed in Enschede for three seasons, with the option of another year. The twelve-time Tunisia international has spent the past year and a half on loan at Winterthur. With his permanent transfer to Twente, Ltaief is finally saying goodbye to Basel.

More targets

Davy an den Berg and Younes Namli (both PEC Zwolle) are also in the picture at Twente to strengthen the midfield. The interest in the pair is not yet concrete, but they 'are on the lists of Twente'. Moreover, Twente would also hope to strengthen itself with Couhaib Driouech, as previously written. The Excelsior winger has been followed by PSV for some time and so bringing him to Enschede will be a major challenge for technical director Arnold Bruggink and co.
