Jens Toornstra has nothing but praise for the working method of Arne Slot. The Feyenoord trainer has been able to convey his vision to the players, says the midfielder in conversation with RTV Rijnmond. Slot started working as a successor to Dick Advocaat in the summer and already impressed Toornstra with his first meeting.

“The collaboration is very good. It is a trainer who has a certain vision that is very popular here, we have all seen that,” says the Feyenoord captain in a look back at the first half of the season. “He also knows how to convey that vision to the group, which you can see from how we are on the field. He is very skilled in communication. Honest and clear, that is important.”

“I liked his first meeting the best. He showed images of the European top. What kind of energy and work they put in to play their game. That intensity is very high and our game is based on that and with that our game will be good.” their right,” continues Toornstra, who rarely plays in his favorite position of attacking midfielder under Slot. More often he is used as a right winger or controller.

“That’s right, but I don’t think I have much right to speak when you see how Guus Til is doing now,” admits Toornstra. “In the way he puts pressure and his return. So I can hardly say that I have to play there, although I would like to.” In total, Til scored ten times in the Eredivisie, making him the most scoring midfielder; only two forwards (Bryan Linssen and Sébastien Haller) scored more goals.
