Arjen Robben will again be part of the match selection of FC Groningen for the home game with Sparta Rotterdam on Sunday. Danny Buijs assumes that the 37-year-old attacker will be back next Sunday, the FC Groningen club channel notes from the mouth of the coach. Robben had to pass up last Saturday’s away game against PSV.

Initially it was intended that Robben would make his comeback after a lingering calf injury against PSV. However, the attacker returned faster than expected in the match selection of FC Groningen, for the home game against sc Heerenveen (0-2 defeat) of two weeks earlier. In it, Robben came in as a substitute twelve minutes before the end. In the following week, Robben trained ‘for the most part’ with the group, but nevertheless stayed behind in Groningen last week to complete an individual program.

This was partly to ensure that Robben could fully focus on the game against Sparta. “At the moment we assume that Robben will be there again. We still have two training sessions to go. Last week it went well for him ”, says Buijs. The coach has to do without the suspended Alessio Da Cruz and the injured Gabriel Gudmundsson against Sparta. Robben can play his fourth game of the season in the battle between the number seven and number eleven of the Eredivisie.
