Gerónimo Rulli will most likely participate in the Copa América with Argentina. The Ajax goalkeeper is part of the country's pre-selection, it was announced on Monday. Three more players will be dropped, but the chance of that being a goalkeeper is nil: there are 'only' three goalkeepers in the pre-selection.

Rulli only played eight times for Ajax this season, partly due to injuries. Yet he is part of Argentina's pre-selection. The two other goalkeepers are Emiliano Martínez and Franco Armani.

So Walter Benítez is not among them. The goalkeeper of national champion PSV was in the Argentinian selection a number of times last year, and made his international debut against Costa Rica in March (3-1 win).

Well-known names such as Lionel Messi, Ángel Di María, Enzo Fernández, Alexis Mac Allister and Alejandro Garnacho are also 'normal' part of the pre-selection.

Former Ajax players Lisandro Martínez and Nicolás Tagliafico are also included. The most notable absentee is 38-time international Paulo Dybala.

On June 10, Argentina will play a friendly against Ecuador with this selection, and Guatemala will be waiting four days later. After that, three more players will be eliminated.

The Copa América will take place in South America this summer. Defending champion Argentina will play its first group match against Canada on June 21. Chile (June 26) and Peru (June 30) are also waiting for national coach Lionel Scaloni's team.
