Ajax announced through trainer Erik ten Hag that Antony has not been given permission to participate in the Olympic games, but nevertheless the winger has traveled to Serbia with the Brazilian Olympic team. A training camp is scheduled in Belgrade, while two exhibition games will be played in the run-up to the tournament.

Ten Hag announced earlier this month that no potential basic Ajax players are allowed to participate in the Olympic Games. The club is not obliged to relinquish players as it is an Under-23 tournament. “Antony reacted resignedly to the message,” Ten Hag was quoted as saying The Telegraph.

On Instagram Stories, Antony shows that he is on the plane with the Olympic team.

According to Ajax Showtime Antony has reported to the Brazilian team at his own request. The Olympic team will be in Serbia from May 31 to June 8. During this period there will be training and practice against Cape Verde and Young Serbia. Antony is expected to say goodbye to the team of trainer André Jardine after the training camp, as he has not received permission from Ajax to participate in the Olympic Games.

Brazil under-23 has been divided into a group with Germany, Ivory Coast and Saudi Arabia at the Olympic Games. On July 22, the South Americans will play against Germany, followed by duels with Ivory Coast (July 25) and Saudi Arabia (July 28). The final rounds will be played from July 31 to August 7. On Sunday, August 8, Ajax will come into action in the battle for the Johan Cruijff Shield against PSV, while the Eredivisie season will start in the weekend of 14 and 15 August.
