Ronald Koeman will not be able to use Ansu Fati in the league match against Rayo Vallecano on Wednesday evening, Barcelona reports via the official channels. The eighteen-year-old attacker is out indefinitely due to a knee injury. It is another downer for Koeman, as Frenkie de Jong, Pedri, Ronald Araújo and Ousmane Dembélé are also missing due to injuries.

Fati also suffered a serious knee injury last year and was then out of circulation for more than ten months. The Spanish top talent graced his long-awaited return with a goal against Levante (3-0 win) at the end of September. After this, he was also accurate in the LaLiga game against Valencia (3-1 win). Fati was part of the match squad for Wednesday evening’s meeting with Rayo Vallecano at 7 p.m., but Barcelona have now announced that the attacker is not available due to pain in his right knee.

Due to Fati’s injury, the infirmary of the Catalans is filling up. Frenkie de Jong had to lose himself on Sunday Classico against Real Madrid (1-2) substituted after 77 minutes due to a hamstring injury. Araújo also suffers from his hamstring. The Uruguayan defender was injured in early October during the international match. Finally, Koeman still cannot rely on Pedri. The creative midfielder made his comeback in the Champions League match with Benfica (3-0 loss) after a muscle injury, but then suffered a setback. According to the Catalan Sport Barcelona can expect Pedri back on the field after the international break in November.
