José Mourinho refused to answer questions from the media after the game between AS Roma and AC Milan (1-2) and quickly left the press conference. The Romans’ trainer wouldn’t say anything, because otherwise he “wouldn’t be on the sidelines next week.” Mourinho was visibly irritated by the behavior of referee Fabio Maresca.

Maresca gave Milan a penalty shortly after the break, after an alleged foul by Roger Ibañez on Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The VAR called Maresca to the screen, but nevertheless the arbiter stuck to his decision. Franck Kessié was therefore able to shoot the 0-2 against the ropes from eleven meters. In the final phase, Roma also believed they were entitled to a penalty after an alleged foul by Simon Kjaer on Lorenzo Pellegrini, but both Maresca and the VAR did not agree.

Mourinho appeared first on DAZN. “Compliments to Milan. I don’t want to say anything else, otherwise I won’t be on the sidelines next week. I am angry because no respect has been shown towards the Roma fans. We didn’t play well, but we gave everything. We have respect and others don’t, that makes me angry. That’s all,” Mourinho said. He then left, without answering any further questions.

In conversation with the club channel and at the press conference, Mourinho expressed himself in similar terms. “I want to sit on the bench next Sunday and I’m not waiting for a suspension, that’s the reason I’m not talking. I congratulate Milan, today’s winner. It’s hard to see the lack of respect for Roma fans. I did my best and did not wait for the referee. I say nothing further. Goodbye guys,” Mourinho said before leaving the press conference. Mourinho was already suspended last week during the game against Cagliari (1-2 win), after receiving a red card during the game with Napoli (0-0).
