Andy van der Meijde has Thursday in The Veronica Inside Morning Show revealed what he currently earns from his YouTube program. The former professional football player receives famous Dutch and (former) football players in his own online series and drives them around in his car. Wilfred Genee asked Van der Meijde about his plans in his radio program, after which a sidekick of Genee was curious about the income, now that Van der Meijde seems to be fully focused on an online career.

“That depends a bit on the views, but you just get some nice money,” says Van der Meijde when asked what he has left over from the videos. Dutch YouTubers receive approximately between fifty euro cents and four euros per thousand views. To earn a lot of pocket money, Van der Meijde will have to get quite a few views. “At the moment I earn about six thousand euros on YouTube. That’s just fun, isn’t it. That’s just extra that comes with it. It’s not 1.2 million, but still, it’s nice.”

When Genee asks what plans Van der Meijde has in the near future, he says he is satisfied with the way things are going now. “I now make my own program on YouTube and can simply schedule my own times. I love that, that freedom,” the former player of Ajax and Internazionale continues. “I just earn good money with that. And I have some other nice things. I think it’s fine this way, enjoy life and not be too busy. That’s great and I want to continue like this for many more years.”

Van der Meijde makes no secret of the fact that he likes to be with the men of Veronica Inside takes place on Monday and Friday evenings. “I can do it, but I don’t know if Andy wants it,” Genee asks aloud. “I’d like to, I love it,” he says. “I would like that one day, sitting at a table talking about football and making jokes. That’s great, isn’t it? That you can turn your hobby into your job. You earn well and time flies.”
