Andries Noppert will be medically examined by SC Cambuur on Wednesday, as you know Omrop Friesland† The 2.03 meter long goalkeeper has proven himself at Go Ahead Eagles in a short time as a solid Eredivisie goalkeeper and had the clubs to sort out. It is striking that Noppert prefers a transfer-free switch to Cambuur over arch rival sc Heerenveen. Noppert was born 28 years ago in Heerenveen.
“I can neither confirm nor deny it”, technical manager Foeke Booy of SC Cambuur tells Omrop Friesland† However, the regional broadcaster is convinced of the switch: if Noppert passes the medical examination, he will be Cambuur’s goalkeeper from 1 July. Sonny Stevens, currently the first goalkeeper, will probably leave the Leeuwarder club on a free transfer. Stevens could have extended, but did not accept Cambuur’s offer.
Noppert has to compete in the Frisian capital with Pieter Bos, the current second goalkeeper with whom he previously played in the youth of Heerenveen. The 28-year-old Noppert has remarkably little experience as a goalkeeper with 46 official matches, because he was second choice for almost his entire career. Also this season, the goalie started at Go Ahead Eagles as a stand-in, in this case of Warner Hahn. The latter did not perform properly and in early January Noppert got the chance.
The goalkeeper, who has played seventeen times for the team from Deventer, has quickly become a crowd favorite with remarkably good performances. Go Ahead is going through the best season in club history and reached the semi-finals of the TOTO KNVB Cup. Go Ahead also maintained itself effortlessly in the Eredivisie and as number nine it even participates fully in the play-offs for a Conference League ticket. FC Groningen, which virtually holds the play-off ticket as number eight, has the same number of points.
