On Saturday afternoon, the team from Amsterdam reported that both Remko Pasveer and Jay Gorter were injured during the warm-up prior to the Champions League meeting with Benfica (2-2). Although Pasveer was still fit enough to play the European match, it now appears that he has to let go of the confrontation with the club from Deventer.
Ajax announces via an official message on the website that both goalkeepers are not available for the time being. At the moment there is no clarity about the seriousness of the injuries, but more will be known after the weekend. Pasveer said in a reaction to the club that he injured a finger. At the same time, Maarten Stekelenburg is still recovering from a hip injury.
Pasveer indicates that he sustained the injury just before the kick-off in the Estádio da Luz. “It was the last ball of the warm-up. With shots like that, the players and I put each other on edge.
