The match between Feyenoord Women and Ajax Women will also be played without away supporters, the municipality of Rotterdam and the police have decided in consultation with the clubs. On Sunday, the first Classic ever in women’s football will be played at Varkenoord. The authorities follow the same line that has also been applied to the men’s teams in the Eredivisie since 2009.

Feyenoord is represented in the Eredivisie Women for the first time this season, so it had to be decided whether an audience will be allowed in matches against Ajax. No away section will be created on Sunday at Varkenoord, which normally happens. A spokesperson for Ajax is late NRC Handelsblad know that they will not stimulate ticket sales. In general, few away supporters are present at matches in the Women’s Eredivisie, although Ajax has sometimes organized ‘away sales’ for duels with PSV, for example.

However, it cannot be completely ruled out that Ajax supporters will be present in Rotterdam on Sunday. Tickets can be purchased online or on match day at a ticket point at De Kuip. “It is not possible to check, in that sense: if someone does not put on an Ajax shirt, you do not know which club it is for,” says Feyenoord spokesman Jesse Lub. “But we don’t expect that half of the F-Side will suddenly be present.” Stewards and security guards will supervise.

The spokesperson for Feyenoord is counting on a cozy atmosphere. “Otherwise we would not organize open ticket sales. It is mainly families who come to these kinds of matches.” A maximum of three thousand Feyenoord supporters may be present at the game; the club expects at least two thousand. Feyenoord Women booked the first victory ever in the Eredivisie at VV Alkmaar (1-2) on Friday and is fifth with five points from three matches. Ajax has taken seven points from four matches, good for third place.
