Almere City FC booked a simple victory in the Kitchen Champion Division on Friday. On a visit to FC Eindhoven, the team of trainer Jeroen Rijsdijk needed an entertaining first half to secure the three points: 1-3. Thanks to the victory, Almere City, which is third with 59 points, increases the pressure on the number two De Graafschap (60 points), who will play against Telstar later in the evening. SC Cambuur (66) is still the leader; the Frisians will play an away game against Go Ahead Eagles tonight.

After thirteen minutes, Almere City opened the score. The steamy right back Bram van Vlerken received a long ball from Damon Mirani on the flank and put the ball back in the penalty area towards Mees Kaandorp. Thomas Verheydt found it and the striker was ready around the penalty spot to score his fifteenth goal of the season: 0-1. More than fifteen minutes later, Almere doubled its lead via Xian Emmers, who dribbled between two defenders on the left flank and searched the far corner: 0-2.

The lead could have been even bigger for Almere City, but instead Eindhoven came back into the game just before half time. A corner by Jason Bourdouxhe was walked in by Hugo Botermans: 1-2. However, the Eindhoven team did not go into the dressing room with a good feeling, because Verheydt poked his second of the match before the halftime signal. The Almere City striker hit from a cross from the left of Thibault Lesquoy: 1-3.

In the second company, the pace fell out of the game, although the North Brabant players were still close to the tying goal five minutes before the final signal. Brian De Keersmaecker was allowed to build from a favorable position for a free kick, but his effort exploded on the crossbar. The Belgian built inside the penalty area in the final phase, but this time found goalkeeper Michael Woud in his path.
