Julian Nagelsmann is committed to a renewed collaboration with Alfred Schreuder, so knows ESPN Friday morning to report based on a few sources. The new coach of Bayern Munich, who will officially start his job at the Bundesliga leader on 1 July, has also been working with Schreuder for some time at TSG Hoffenheim. The Dutchman has been Ronald Koeman’s right-hand man at Barcelona since last summer.

Nagelsmann hopes that Schreuder is willing to leave Barcelona after one season for a return to the Bundesliga. Hansi Flick’s successor at Bayern was appointed by Hoffenheim in February 2016 to replace Huub Stevens, who left due to health reasons. Schreuder had already been employed by the German club for six months. Both trainers eventually managed to save Hoffenheim from relegation and a season later, in the 2016/17 vintage, a ticket to the group stage of the Champions League was won thanks to a handsome fourth place.

Schreuder left Hoffenheim in January 2018 to continue as assistant to Erik ten Hag at Ajax. A year and a half later, the 48-year-old coach returned to Hoffenheim, this time in the role of head coach. Schreuder was then appointed as replacement for Nagelsmann who left for RB Leipzig. Due to a difference of opinion, the collaboration between Hoffenheim and Koeman’s current assistant came to an end after just one year.

Schreuder recently received praise from Koeman at a press conference. “At Ajax he worked with Erik ten Hag, who has similar game ideas to Barcelona. He has learned a lot from Julian Nagelsmann and he applies their ideas. We complement each other. Then we make decisions”, explained the Barcelona coach. from. “Alfred is a Dutchman and the Dutch love offensive football. He has worked for several clubs, including Ajax.”
