Jaynilson Geoffery will make the switch from Alphense Boys to Ajax next season. The sixteen-year-old talent also got the opportunity to do an internship at Feyenoord, but continues his career in the youth academy of Ajax.

In conversation with Ajax Showtime Geoffery reveals how his upcoming transfer came about. “From the start of the season they have already watched many of my matches and I convinced them to come on stage,” says the attacker. “That is still a special story. In December I first received an invitation to do an internship at Feyenoord, but I turned it down. Although I come from Rotterdam, I am a real Ajax fan. Ajax was the club I was waiting for.”

Geoffery calls Ajax ‘the most beautiful club in the Netherlands’ and, in his own words, was caught by the playing style of Erik ten Hag’s team. “I wanted to play there and I was convinced that it was possible. I therefore rejected Feyenoord and on the same day I was called that I could come on an internship at Ajax.” The Rotterdammer made enough impression during a few training sessions and a match with the Under 17 to eventually enforce a contract. “After the training sessions and the match I was satisfied. Of course it can always be better, but I had the feeling that I would be hired by Ajax.”

“I am an attacker, a winger. I am right footed and prefer to play from the left flank. I am a fast player with a lot of technique, a real dribbler”, is how Geoffery describes himself. “But I also have physical strength. I am good in front of the goal and I take a lot of initiative with the ball. I still need to get better at my game without the ball, such as my defensive positioning and runs in depth.”
