Ajax is in the market for Nico González, so you know ASH to report. The team from Amsterdam has offered the nineteen-year-old defensive midfielder, who is making a big impression in Barcelona B this season, a place in the first selection for next season, according to the Spanish sports newspaper. However, Barcelona itself is also working to extend its expiring contract and according to Sport Catalonia is optimistic about these negotiations.

González is the son of Francisco Javier González Pérez – Fran, former Deportivo La Coruña player and former Barcelona youth coach – and a product of La Masia. This season, the young midfielder will play his matches in Barcelona B, for whom he has played twenty times for the time being. ASH writes that Ronald Koeman is ‘one of the biggest fans’ of González, while within Barcelona he is considered the natural successor to Sergio Busquets. The Catalans would therefore like to extend his expiring contract.

La Voz de Galicia writes that Pere Guardiola, Pep’s brother and González’s agent, has already had a conversation with the technical managers Mateu Alemany and Ramon Planes. Barcelona has presented González with a three-year contract and also plans to involve him in the first team next season, at least by letting him train daily. González can still play his matches in Barcelona B, which plays at the third level of Spanish football.

Barcelona is optimistic after talks with González, despite the fact that there are more hijackers on the coast. In addition to Ajax, Manchester City would also target Spain’s youth international. Ajax would even have promised him that he can be part of the first selection next season. However, Barcelona would like to go far to keep González on board, so it is unlikely that he will move to Amsterdam at the moment.
