Latest update:

Ajax is interested in the services of Mikayil Faye, reports Fabrizio Romano. The nineteen-year-old central defender has not yet found a role at FC Barcelona and may be hinting at a summer departure.

Barcelona paid around five million euros excluding bonuses last summer to acquire Faye from NK Kustosija, which plays in the second level of Croatia. He had just made the switch from the Senegalese Diambars FC.

After more than five months and fourteen games for the Croats, Barcelona had seen enough. The Catalans paid a few million euros for Faye, who joined the promising team.

On behalf of Barcelona B, Faye made 24 league appearances this season, scoring three times. He was only on the bench for the A-selection once. That was in the home match against RCD Mallorca.

During his presentation, Barcelona described Faye as 'fast and constructively strong' and sees him as 'a potential top player'. The question is therefore whether the Catalan superpower is already prepared to cooperate in a departure.

Faye has a contract with Barcelona until mid-2027. The renowned Transfer market estimates its current value at one and a half million euros.

Competition

Ajax is not the only club that follows the achievements of the Senegalese. Tottenham Hotspur, OGC Nice, RC Lens and Girona are also reportedly interested.

Faye is originally a central defender, but can also play as a left back. He played several youth international matches and reached the eighth finals of the Youth World Cup with Senegal Under 17 in 2019.
