Ajax Under-18 has booked a victory over Besiktas’ peers in the UEFA Youth League on Tuesday. The team of coach Dave Vos won 3-1 at De Toekomst and thus set a good example for the A-team, which will play against the Turkish opponent on Tuesday evening. Ajax opened the group stage two weeks ago with a 1-1 draw at Sporting Portugal and has now collected four points.

The first shooting opportunity was for Ajax midfielder Gabriel Misehouy, who couldn’t get the ball past goalkeeper Emre Bilgin from about eleven meters. Silvano Vos came a little later with a shot on the post even closer to the opening goal for the team from Amsterdam. After more than half an hour it fell after all, when Kristian Hlynsson got the ball back from Axel Dongen’s Amourricho. The Icelander shot the ball from eleven meters through Emre Aydemir’s leg: 1-0. Hlynsson could have made it 2-0 three minutes after the break, but after excellent preparatory work by Jaydon Banel, he went just wide.

Shortly afterwards, Ajax managed to double the margin. Vos forced Besiktas to lose the ball and sent a through ball to Misehouy, which enabled Van Axel Dongen to score in the penalty area. On the counterattack, Koray Yagci almost brought the tension back into the game. Halfway through the second half, the alert goalkeeper Tom de Graaff prevented the 2-1 from the broken captain of Besiktas. On the other side, Jaydon Banel ran into goalkeeper Emre Bilgin.

De Graaff was able to distinguish himself fourteen minutes before the end. After a slight foul by Olivier Aertssen on Okan Agrap, Yagci was allowed to score for a penalty, but his too weak effort missed the right direction and was turned by the keeper. Not much later, Misehouy made it 3-0 with a placed shot into the left corner. However, Besiktas was not finished yet, as Yagci made it 3-1 at the far post after he got too much space from the Amsterdam defense.
