Davy Klaassen is not fit enough to travel with Ajax to Lisbon, as you know The Telegraph. The attacking midfielder has minor groin complaints and therefore has to miss the Champions League match while visiting Sporting Portugal. As a result, Steven Berghuis has another chance in the starting lineup at number ten.

Klaassen sustained his groin injury in the last game of the Dutch national team against Turkey (6-1 win). As a result, the midfielder had to miss Ajax’s competition match against PEC Zwolle (0-2 win) last Saturday. An attempt was made to prepare Klaassen in time for the first Champions League match of the season, but that did not work out.

Klaassen’s injury solves a possible luxury problem for Erik ten Hag. Ajax’s trainer would probably have had to choose between Antony and Berghuis, if Klaassen had been fit in time. Now Berghuis could play as number ten again, just like the former Feyenoord player did in Zwolle. There is a good chance that Maarten Stekelenburg will be under the bar at Ajax. The goalkeeper had to miss out in Zwolle with also groin complaints, as a result of which Remco Pasveer was in the goal.
