Ajax will strengthen itself with Remko Pasveer. The leader of the Eredivisie reports in a press release of an agreement on a two-year contract with the experienced keeper, who will be taken over from Vitesse on a transfer-free basis. On Thursday evening, Vitesse announced that Pasveer is working on his final months in Arnhem and on Friday morning it became clear that Ajax was fishing for his arrival.

“Remko has shown in the base of Vitesse in the past two seasons that he is a stable and good keeper, who can also play football well”, Marc Overmars, director of football affairs, responds to the arrival of Pasveer. “We think that he is a good fit for Ajax. You can also see that as Remko gets older, he has also gotten better. It is expected that Maarten Stekelenburg will join the team in the short term, which will give us a stable basis for the coming season.”

Pasveer is happy to be able to call himself an Ajax player from next season. “That gives a special feeling. Ajax is a club with a great history and a very strong selection. To be part of that is a nice reward after all these years of hard work.” The choice fell on Ajax ‘for several reasons’. “I was almost out with Vitesse for the extension by one year. Then Marc Overmars reported with a story that really appealed to me. I was able to sign here for two years. In addition, Ajax is a great club that stands for great football from behind. A style of play that I really like and that suits me well. “

Ajax has a difficult situation due to the doping suspension of André Onana and his refusal to sign up. The Telegraph writes that Ajax has ‘the aim’ to sell Onana in the summer. On the other hand, the club seems to come out with Stekelenburg, as Overmars indicates. It seems that the 38-year-old goalkeeper will sign for a year. Pasveer enters the competition uninhibitedly. “I am very neutral and open. No promises have been made, but the past seasons at Vitesse have given me a lot of pleasure and confidence. I will work very hard to adapt my playing style and to learn further.”

The departure of Pasveer means that Vitesse has to look for a new goalkeeper, as there will be one goalkeeper left with Jeroen Houwen next summer. De Gelderlander wrote on Friday that Lars Unnerstall was emphatically in the picture in Arnhem in recent years, but he will certainly not be the new goalkeeper of Vitesse. Unnerstall will exchange PSV for FC Twente next summer. Pasveer has been under contract with Vitesse since 2017. His first year under Leonid Slutsky was difficult, but now he is a permanent fixture and even wears the captain’s armband after Bryan Linssen’s departure to Feyenoord last summer.
