Jay Gorter is on his way to Ajax, so reports The Telegraph. The team from Amsterdam has reached an agreement with Go Ahead Eagles about the transfer of the 21-year-old goalkeeper. Ajax pays one million euros, considerably less than the 2.5 million euros that the people of Deventer previously asked for. In addition, Go Ahead has stipulated a resale percentage.

As soon as Ajax has completed the formalities with Go Ahead, the club will sit down with Gorter himself. It is expected that both sides will come together quickly and that the talented goalkeeper will sign a four-season contract. Gorter then returns via a detour to the club for which he also played in the youth between 2010 and 2014. Via amateur club AFC and then AZ, he ended up at Go Ahead in 2018.

Ajax will be working on a major change to the goalkeeper base this summer. The Amsterdammers want to sell the suspended André Onana and are also open to a departure from Kjell Scherpen, who seems to be on his way to Brighton & Hove Albion for an amount of five million euros. It has been established that Ajax will continue with Maarten Stekelenburg and that he must compete with Remko Pasveer of Vitesse, who came over from Vitesse. Gorter must become the first goalkeeper of Young Ajax.
