Ajax is about to take another important step at management level. After the contract extensions of director of football affairs Marc Overmars and commercial director Menno Geelen, the club also wants to continue with Susan Lenderink. The current CFO’s contract expires in November 2023 and should be extended until mid-2026.

The Supervisory Board of Ajax wants to reappoint Lenderink for a new term after the special general meeting. “Susan Lenderink is ultimately responsible for financial policy, financial reporting and the financial and administrative organization and fulfills that role with verve. She also leaves an important mark on the professionalization of the growing organization that is Ajax,” said chairman of the Supervisory Board Leen Meijaard about the role of the financial director.

“Despite the fact that we often had to work from home for most of my time, I have been able to further professionalize the organization together with my colleagues from finance, HR and IT,” Lenderink says in a response to the club’s website. “I am happy with the confidence placed in me and I am looking forward to the coming years at Ajax. I have enjoyed working here for two and a half years now. The management team I am part of works well together. I notice every day that we complement each other well.”

Lenderink is the third in line, as the contract extensions of Overmars and Geelen already came out last week. In particular, the contract extension of Overmars was not a matter of course. The director of football affairs was in the explicit interest of Newcastle United, but preferred a longer stay in Amsterdam. His new contract was leaked through a video. The trio can be reappointed as soon as the so-called special general meeting of shareholders is scheduled.
