Raphaël Sarfo has left Ajax for an adventure at Patro Eisden, the club announced Tuesday via official channels. The twenty-year-old left back had an expiring contract in Amsterdam and is leaving the club on a free transfer.

Last season, Sarfo made 29 Keuken Kampioen Divisie appearances in the shirt of Jong Ajax, but the contract, which expired on July 16, was not extended.

As a result, Sarfo makes the immediate transfer to the club from the Belgian Challenger Pro League, the second level in Belgian professional football. He has signed a contract with Patro Eisden until mid-2026.

The Dutchman has played for the Dutch record champion since 2013. Last season he played 29 times with Jong Ajax in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie. In those matches he scored once and managed to Rapha to give five assists.

Coach Stijn Stijnen is happy with the arrival of Sarfo, as he makes clear via the club channels. “We were looking for a young profile for the right back position. Raphaël has a good profile and the conversations I had with him appealed to me.”

From player to new general manager

On Monday, Patro Eisden surprised with the appointment of Wouter Corstjens as successor to Olivier Boyen as general manager. The 37-year-old Corstjens was captain of the club from the Challenger Pro League last season.

Corstjens also continues his ambition as a player in his new role, as he explains in an interview with Sporza. “I came to Patro 4 years ago with a clear goal: to be promoted. I will do everything I can to achieve this again in my new position.”
