Ajax is betting on the arrival of Steven Berghuis, reports The Telegraph. The team from Amsterdam has officially informed Feyenoord that they want to take over the 29-year-old winger. Berghuis has a limited transfer fee of four million euros in his contract, but that only applies to foreign clubs as far as is known.

Berghuis is currently in training camp with the the Dutch squad, which is preparing for the eighth final of the European Championship on Sunday in Budapest. Before the tournament, the right winger indicated that he would not make a decision about his future for the time being. “I am now focusing on the European Championship,” said the attacker. “Feyenoord and I are good with each other and above all honest with each other. There have already been many clubs that I did not want to leave Feyenoord for. We will see what comes next. Now first the European Championship.”

On Monday, Berghuis played the entire second half against North Macedonia (0-3 win), his first minutes of play at the European Championship. Just before that match BT Sport known that Norwich City is also in the market for Berghuis. For the club promoted to the Premier League, the limited transfer fee of four million euros is a tip. Berghuis was also previously linked to VfL Wolfsburg, where Mark van Bommel will work as a trainer. PSV is thinking of the the Dutch international in case Donyell Malen is sold.
