Latest update:

Ajax has sent scouts to Drenthe recently. They came there to watch FC Emmen midfielder Jorn Hekkert, as we know RTV Drenthe. The nineteen-year-old creative has been active in the youth academy of the Kitchen Champion Division club since the summer of 2023 and has no plans to leave just yet.

Ajax is not the only club hoping to strengthen itself with Hekkert. “Scouts from all over the Netherlands come to De Oude Meerdijk for him and Ajax and FC Groningen are reportedly already angling for the attacking midfielder,” the Drenthe medium writes.

The interest of Ajax and Groningen seems to be in vain. “Hekkert has already made his choice. He will stay at FC Emmen, at the club that lets him do what he loves most: playing football and developing himself and others.”

The midfielder is expected to soon sign a new contract with Emmen. This will probably happen 'within one or two weeks'.

Hekkert came over from the youth academy of Go Ahead Eagles in the summer of last year. There 'things were not going well with the main courses' and so a transfer was opted for.

In recent weeks, Hekkert trained with Emmen's main force. He was already in the selection of the only professional club in Drenthe. In the lost home game with MVV (1-3), Hekkert stayed on the bench for ninety minutes.

He may make his debut in professional football on Friday evening. Emmen will play against Telstar away from home and Hekkert will probably be in the selection again. For the time being, he has only played on behalf of the Emmen team's Under 18 and Under 21 teams.
