Ajax is considering Jeffrey de Lange as a stand-in for Diant Ramaj next season. This is according to Football International Thursday in an analysis of the transfer issues surrounding the Amsterdammers. De Lange comes into the picture when Géronimo Rulli leaves, which is internally assumed in the Johan Cruijff ArenA. However, Go Ahead Eagles, De Lange's club, must then be willing to cooperate.

The 26-year-old goalkeeper is still on contract for two years at De Adelaarshorst, where he had a top season individually and collectively. De Lange regularly distinguished himself with beautiful reflexes and managed to achieve European football with his team.

The question is whether he is prepared to exchange that for a reserve role in Amsterdam, the place where he enjoyed eleven years of his youth training. De Lange played at De Toekomst between 2016 and 2017, before seeking his fortune in the east, at FC Twente.

There, De Lange left after five years and two matches in the first team for Go Ahead, where he had to succeed Andries Noppert. In the meantime, the Amstelvener has become an indispensable part of the starting line-up.

That is the main reason Ajax is considering bringing him back, but also because of the doubts about the internal alternatives. Jay Gorter has already shown himself to be unreliable several times, while Remko Pasveer is considered too old and Charlie Setford and Paul Reverson are still too inexperienced.

However, Rulli will have to close the door of the ArenA behind him. The Argentine, currently active in the Copa América, puts a heavy burden on the budget with his salary and does not want to warm the bench for another season. According to the Spanish Brand would love to return to his old employer Villarreal. As for LaLiga clubs, Real Betis is at least interested, according to Argentine media in early June.
