Ajax has announced a number of opponents against whom it will play in preparation for the 2023/24 season. The selection is expected again on June 29 at the training complex, after which the team will compete against FC Augsburg, Shakhtar Donetsk and RSC Anderlecht, among others. Former player Jan Vertonghen is under contract with the latter club.

Ajax is preparing for the new season in Germany this summer. The team from Amsterdam will be a guest in Herzogenaurach from Monday 24 to Saturday 29 July, where the head office of main sponsor Adidas is located. In recent years, the selection of Ajax has always stayed in Austria. It is also the first time in years that Ajax will not go to De Lutte. Previously, the club invariably visited the Twente village as part of the preparation.

It is certain that Ajax will play its first exhibition match against Shakhtar Donetsk on July 18. The club is looking at the possibilities to finish this game at an amateur association, as can be read on the club site. Four days later, Maurice Steijn’s team plays its second exhibition game against Anderlecht in Brussels. Subsequently, the team from Amsterdam will travel to Germany for the training camp.

The trip to the eastern neighbors will be concluded on July 29 with a practice match against Augsburg, the number fifteen of the last Bundesliga season. Ajax intends to practice again more than a week later against a Bundesliga club that has yet to be announced. The Open Day will take place on August 8, on which the selection will be presented and there will be an open training in the Johan Cruijff ArenA.
