National coach Lionel Scaloni has announced Argentina’s final selection for the Copa América. The 28-man selection has room for Ajax defenders Nicolás Tagliafico and Lisandro Martínez. Sergio Aguero can already prepare for the future partnership at Barcelona with Lionel Messi, who has of course also been selected by Scaloni.

Scaloni has no place for Emiliano Buendía, who was bought by Aston Villa this week for a record amount of almost 40 million euros, and made a big impression on PhD candidate Norwich City. Lucas Ocampos and Juan Foyth also did not survive the selection. Cristian Romero has had a strong season with Atalanta and has also been included in the final selection. There is also a lot of criticism on social media about the selection of Otamendi. Many Argentine fans think the 33-year-old Benfica defender has become too slow and fear mistakes in the Copa América.

The Argentine team opens the Copa América on June 14 with a game against Chile. This is followed by group matches against Uruguay (June 19), Paraguay (June 22) and Bolivia (June 29). The final of the final tournament, which has been moved to Brazil, is scheduled for July 11.
