Ralf Crutzen will immediately resign his work as a volunteer at MVV Maastricht. The acclaimed Twitter reporter feels compelled to do so, because “certain people within the club are making sure it’s no longer workable.” “With a lot of pain in my heart: where I would still finish the season as a Twitter user of MVV, I decided to stop immediately,” Crutzen writes on his own Twitter account.
Crutzen is in his third year as a volunteer at MVV. The reporter has gained fame in recent seasons with various playful tweets, for example with an attempt to bring Cristiano Ronaldo to Maastricht. “Our manager will respect you Cristiano and you can have as many pies as you want“, MVV tweeted at the end of 2022 after Ronaldo’s famous interview with Piers Morgan, in which the Portuguese said he felt no respect from manager Erik ten Hag.

Crutzen’s employment with MVV will come to an abrupt end. “Certain people within the club ensure that it is no longer workable for me and I can no longer make what I want,” he says. “It’s a pity, because after volunteering for the club for 3 wonderful years, I wanted to end it nicely. I was not allowed to do that and it was even said that they can do fine without me. To all supporters: see you on Friday at the stands and hopefully on to the play-offs.”

Crutzen made the news last year with a playful tweet with the MVV account related to TV columnist Angela de Jong.
On Friday evening, Crutzen traveled with MVV to Helmond Sport, but remarkably enough he was unable to report on the match. “I am in Helmond and there is no way I can enter the MVV Twitter account. No one knows where the verification code to log in was sent, so it will be a nice evening for everyone who is not a fan of my tweets there.”
