Mike Maignan is on his way to AC Milan. According to various foreign media, the Lille OSC keeper has agreed on a five-year contract at the San Siro. La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that after the personal agreement it is now waiting for a deal between both clubs. By attracting Maignan, Milan is expected to prepare for a departure from Gianluigi Donnarumma. According to reports, Milan still has hope for a new deal with Donnarumma, but in order not to be left empty-handed, work is being done in the background on the arrival of Maignan.

Maignan was also reportedly in the picture at Borussia Dortmund. Sports 1 reports that the top German club has lost the battle for the goalkeeper’s signature to Milan. The 25-year-old Maignan is stuck in Northern France until the summer of 2022. Lille must get rid of him in the coming transfer period to prevent him from walking out the door on a transfer-free basis in a year. According to various French and Italian media, it would be a transfer fee of fifteen million euros. Maignan would have agreed to a contract until mid-2026 for an annual salary of two million euros excluding bonuses.

The forthcoming transfer from Maignan will herald Donnarumma’s departure, as is expected in Italy. AC Milan has been trying to extend the expiring contract of the 22-year-old Italian keeper for a long time. Despite frantic efforts, an agreement has still not been reached with the client of agent Mino Raiola. Rumors of a departure from Milan and a transfer to Juventus are getting louder. In Turin, a multi-year contract would be ready for the 25-time international. At the Italian superpower he could earn the desired salary of ten million euros per year.
