On Sunday afternoon, AC Milan continued the hunt for the lead in Serie A with a victory. The team of trainer Stefano Piolo was too strong on a visit to Hellas Verona with 0-2, without the team having to put in too much effort. With that, the Milanese, who are three points behind leader Internazionale as number two, have a good general in the run-up to the duel in the Europa League with Manchester United next Thursday.

Milan, which has three attackers in the infirmary with Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Mario Mandzukic and Ante Rebic, started the duel with Verona reluctantly. The first moment of excitement came from Rafael Leão, who was tailor-made by Davide Calabria, but headed just over. Ten minutes later, with half an hour on the clock, it was a hit. Rade Krunic was knocked to the ground on the left side of the field on the edge of the penalty area, after which the same Krunic shot brilliantly in the far intersection: 0-1.

It meant for the midfielder his first goal of the season in an otherwise unimpressive first half. The second half delivered considerably more spectacle, when Milan doubled the lead after ten minutes of play. Diogo Dalot received the ball on the edge of the penalty area from Alexis Saelemaekers, gave himself some space with a feint and then shot hard and high for the 0-2. Milan then controlled the game and, partly due to a well-organized defense, barely ran into problems.

The times when Verona thought it was dangerous, the danger could be prevented early by Milan. Twenty minutes before the end, Darko Lazovic sent a dangerous pass behind the defense of the Milanese, but Alessio Romagnoli managed to prevent Eddie Salcedo from finishing with the utmost effort. Despite a final offensive by the home team to score a connection goal in the last fifteen minutes, the visitors simply remained upright.
