AC Milan suffered their first league defeat of the season on Saturday evening. On a visit to Fiorentina, the team of trainer Stefano Pioli went down 4-3. The defeat leaves AC Milan in second place with 32 points from 13 matches, while Fiorentina is sixth with 21 points from 13 matches.

The visitors handed out the first warning of the game within five minutes, when Brahim Díaz sent Zlatan Ibrahimovic into the deep. The attacker showed razor sharpness by shooting the ball behind Pietro Terracciano. However, the party was canceled for the Swede, as he was one meter offside. After fifteen minutes of play, it was Fiorentina that surprisingly took the lead. A corner seemed an easy prey for Ciprian Tatarusanu, but the goalkeeper let the ball slip out of his hands, after which Alfred Duncan was able to tap the ball into the empty goal: 1-0.

Minutes later, Fiorentina were close to 0-2, when Dusan Vlahovic headed just over the goal. Then left i Rossoneric apply twice. Sandro Tonali and Rafael Leão tried with shots from distance, but both found Terracciano in their way. Five minutes before half time, Ibrahimovic had the perfect opportunity to equalize the visitors. Simon Kjaer gave a tailor-made cross, after which the Swede headed just wide from a promising position. Ibrahimovic’s miss cost AC Milan dearly, as the home team struck again just before half-time. Saponara got the ball on the edge of the sixteen and curled the ball nicely into the intersection: 0-2.

Where Saponara shot the ball in beautifully just before half-time, Leão briefly missed in the second half just over the right intersection. Fiorentina was completely on roses with an hour on the clock, after Duncan sent Vlahovic into the depths. The attacker had a good assumption and then outplayed Tatarusanu. From a difficult angle, Vlahovic shot the ball convincingly into the empty goal: 3-0. AC Milan were helped right back into the game by Giacomo Bonaventura. The midfielder handed in the ball carelessly, after which Ibrahimovic reduced the tension in the match: 3-1.

Halfway through the second half, the visitors’ goal was also a fact. Theo Hernández continued well and handed the ball to the detached Ibrahimovic: 3-2. AC Milan smelled blood and went on the hunt for the equalizer. However, Vlahovic closed the game five minutes before the end. Hernández suffered a careless loss of ball in his own sixteen, after which Vlahovic decided the match with his second of the evening: 4-2. In the final seconds, Milan did something back. Ibrahimovic headed over the crossbar, after which Lorenzo Venuti ran the ball into his own goal: 4-3.
