Latest update:

Johan Derksen has not yet been impressed by Maarten Martens. The AZ trainer, who recently took over from the dismissed Pascal Jansen, is being promoted the moustache dismissed as 'a weak impersonal boy, without personality'.

Martens had a bad start as AZ's coach and failed to win any of his first five matches. On Monday, the upcoming departure of Robert Eenhoorn was added. The general manager will resign from his position on July 1.

“I think it's good that that director is resigning from AZ,” Derksen begins. “I love that they don't score any points. They have done such an injustice to Pascal Jansen. Eenhoorn comes from another sport (baseball, ed.), he is a bit of an owner.”

“He couldn't get along with the KNVB, so he sent angry letters. Ajax wanted their director (Marijn Beuker, ed.), he is keeping him. If you are AZ and Ajax comes for a director, then that guy goes to Ajax .”

Derksen does not like Eenhoorn's behavior. “Always stopping everything and tightening the rules. Jansen's dismissal too. I think that has to do with his departure, because he has gradually created so many enemies.”

“The AZ management only wants to please the Supervisory Board. 'Look how much money we have raised through sales', and then oblige the trainer to achieve the same results with a lesser selection.”

Then Martens has to pay the price. “I think Marten is a weak, impersonal boy. He is not an inspiring personality at all, but he got those players in his stomach from Max Huiberts.”

“This group of players has too little quality,” is the conclusion. “Jansen was killed for that and he (Martens, ed.) doesn't know it either. They do have a very good youth academy. A talented group of young boys. But they are not yet ready for the big job.”
