Dick Schreuder once again ties a Dutch player to CD Castellón. The brand new second division club from Spain, who were promoted last season, are strengthening themselves with Jetro Willems with immediate effect.

After his transfer-free departure from Heracles Almelo, Willems was already training with Castellón, who have now handed out a contract. It is unclear for how many seasons the thirty-year-old left back will sign, probably for one year.

For Willems, Castellón is his eighth club in his career. The veteran previously played for Sparta Rotterdam, PSV, Eintracht Frankfurt, Newcastle United, Greuther Fürth, FC Groningen and last year Heracles Almelo. In Almelo, Willems played twenty Eredivisie matches. Willems played 22 times for the Dutch national team between 2012 and 2016.

With the arrival of Willems, the Dutch enclave at Castellón is expanded. Earlier this summer, Schreuder also brought Mats Seuntjens to Spain on a free transfer.

Castellón's selection also includes centre-back Daijiro Chirino and left-back Jozhua Vertrouwd with a Dutch passport.

Schreuder will start his second season in Spain. In May, Castellón became champion at the third level.
