Yankuba Minteh has made a good start to his time at Brighton & Hove Albion. The twenty-year-old striker, who played on loan for Feyenoord last season, scored on his debut in Tokyo on Wednesday afternoon.

The Gambian opened the score in characteristic fashion during the friendly match against Japanese club Kashima. Minteh received the ball on the edge of the penalty area, used his speed to outwit two men with a dribble and left the goalkeeper with no chance with a low shot: 0-1. Minteh celebrated his goal with the BowserAn celebration which Quinten Timber and Calvin Stengs regularly perform after Feyenoord goals.

Brighton bought Minteh from Newcastle United this summer for 35 million euros. Expectations are high in the English seaside resort. “The first of many for Minteh”, write the Seagulls on X. Summer purchase Mats Wieffer, who was acquired from Feyenoord for 30 million euros, was still absent on Wednesday due to his injury.
