Latest update:

Manchester City lost their first friendly match of the season. Celtic were too strong in North Carolina on Wednesday with a 3-4 score. Former Ajax player Nicolas Kühn scored two Scottish goals and played a major role in the impressive friendly victory of the Bhoys.

Bee the Citizens included Stefan Ortega, Kalvin Phillips, Jack Grealish and Erling Braut Haaland in the starting line-up. Furthermore, manager Pep Guardiola mainly relied on a number of highly regarded youth players.

Celtic, who had been preparing for a long time and had already played three practice matches, could call on a group of experienced players. The 37-year-old goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel made his unofficial debut for the Scottish club.

For Kühn, who was under contract with Ajax between 2018 and 2020 but never made his debut, it was a match to remember. Celtic went into half-time with a 1-3 lead, thanks to two goals from the German. He also provided an assist for Kyogo Furuhashi's goal. On behalf of Manchester City, Oscar Bobb returned the favor.

The same Bobb seemed to help the blue club from Manchester to a comeback, when he gave two assists after the break. First to Maximo Perrone, then to Haaland. In the 68th minute Celtic still came out on top thanks to Luis Palma: 3-4.

Manchester City will play AC Milan, FC Barcelona and Chelsea in the coming weeks, before playing Manchester United in the Community Shield on August 10.

Kühn's Celtic is still practicing against Chelsea in the United States. Next week the Scottish Premiership starts again, in which Celtic starts with a home match against Kilmarnock. Kühn did play official matches for Jong Ajax. In 43 matches he was good for 5 goals and 6 assists.
